The walk starts at the small gravel parking area on Hooes Road adjacent to the service road for Lake Mercer. Driving directions to this location follow.

  1. Take the asphalt trail directly across Hooes Road from the parking area. The trail passes through a vehicle barrier and turns to the right.
  2. The trail comes to a triangular trail intersection. Take the asphalt trail to the right.
  3. An asphalt trail intersects from the left. Continue straight on the present asphalt trail.
  4. An asphalt trail intersects from the right next to a telephone cable right-of-way. Continue straight on the present asphalt trail.
  5. At the next asphalt trail intersection turn left. If you come to a column stream crossing you have missed this turn.
  6. An asphalt trail intersects from the right. Continue straight on the present trail. A few feet later at another trail intersection the trail appears to turn to the left. Instead take the trail to the right.
  7. An asphalt trail intersects from the left. Continue straight on the present trail. A short distance later an asphalt trail intersects from the right. Continue straight on the present trail.
  8. The trail intersects with Newington Forest Avenue. Turn left to follow the narrow asphalt trail along this road.
  9. The trail crosses Summer Breeze Lane. Continue on the trail along Newington Forest Avenue.
  10. The asphalt trail stops at the driveway for Newington Forest School. Follow the concrete walk along the driveway to the other side of the front of the school. Take the asphalt trail as it resumes to follow Newington Forest Avenue and shortly crosses Curving Creek Court.
  11. An asphalt trail intersects from the left just prior to a bridge over a creek. Turn left to follow the asphalt trail down the hill.
  12. At the bottom of the hill the trail ends at an asphalt trail. Turn right to follow this trail.
  13. At the next triangular trail intersection take the asphalt trail to the left.
  14. The walk ends back at the parking area along Hooes Road.
