Driving directions from I495:
Take Beltway exit 54A to go west on Braddock Road. After driving about 1.7 miles turn left at the traffic light for Burke Lake Road. Follow Burke Lake Road about 2.4 miles to the traffic light at Lee Chapel Road and Burke Center Parkway. Turn left onto Lee Chapel Road and follow that road about 2.2 miles to the traffic light at the Fairfax County Parkway. Turn left onto the Fairfax County Parkway and turn right onto the service road marked Hooes Rd - Pohick Rd after passing the Modisto Lane exit. Turn right at the first traffic light on the service road to follow Hooes Road south. The parking area for the trail is at the bottom of the hill next to a service road into Lake Mercer and is not marked.
Fairfax County Parkway:
Going south on the Fairfax County Parkway take a right turn onto the service road marked Hooes Rd - Pohick Rd after passing the Modisto Lane esit. Turn right at the first traffic light on the service road to follow Hooes Road south. Going north (or west) on the Fairfax County Parkway take a right turn onto the service road exit for Pohick Road - Hooes Road. Continue straight past the first traffic light on the service road (Pohick Rd.) and turn left at the next traffic light to take Hooes Road south. The parking area for the trail is at the bottom of the hill next to a service road into Lake Mercer and is not marked.
Caution: Hooes Road parallels the Fairfax County Parkway east of the Pohick Road intersection. Do not exit the Parkway going north until reaching the Pohick Road exit.
