Lake Elsa was renamed Lake Audubon by Gulf Reston. Later USGS maps show the new name. It is believed the first picture on the previous page was taken in 1974 near what is now Lake Chapel Lane. The second picture was taken in 1976 from the Lake Thoreau dam. Note that the dam did not exist at the time of the map creation in 1971.
While the lake has been renamed perhaps this site can help to remember the lady whose son created this beautiful town.
